Acknowledgements

First, my most heartfelt thanks go to my delightful and beautiful wife Beth and our two lovely daughters, who have endured nine months of me shutting myself in my home office virtually every evening and weekend. I love you all and I promise to make up to you the parties I missed, the movies I did not go to, and the housework I avoided (well, maybe not that).

Next, I'll thank Michael Nolan of New Riders, longtime friend, business associate, and New Riders acquisitions editor, for advocating my book and calling frequently during the writing process to ask me when I was going to be finished. Next is Cheryl England of Peachpit Press who has been the most supportive, enthusiastic, and conscientious editor I could hope for and who has improved this book immeasurably.

Also at Peachpit, I have to thank managing editor Marjorie Baer, production coordinator Andrei Pasternak, designer Mimi Heft, cover designer Aren Howell, and marketing maven Kim Lombardi for helping to bring Stylin' to life. A special thanks goes to one of the smartest people in the world of Web, Shaun Inman, for being Stylin's technical editor and making sure that my mistakes were caught and the finer nuances of CSS were accurately explained.

At Nacio, where I work, I'll sincerely thank Stephen King, Thom Kennon, and Murray Goldenberg for giving me the time and support I needed to write this book. And thanks to Adam London, Eddie Colmanares, Arkardy Kaminski, Demetrio Cuzzocrea, Kris Fragmeni, and Herb Gottlieb, for making my work day fun.

Next, I'll bow down while repeating "Unworthy, unworthy", before Jeffrey Zeldman, Molly Holzschlag, Eric Meyer, and Doug Bowman, the Web gurus whose work has changed the face of the Web for the better, thoroughly influenced my work, and, who, through their writing and seminars have taught me, and thousands of others, so much; it was a great experience to meet and spend time with them at the South by Southwest interactive conference in Austin, TX this year.

Closer to home, special thanks to Russ, Elizabeth, Devin and Shannon Mayhew, and Robert, Bonnie and Dakota Mitchell for always being there for our family and for helping out in numerous ways while I was writing this book. And, Russ, yes, it's actually finished.

I'll thank Ken Ruotolo of ANTS software, inc. for being a true friend, business associate, and client and Dave Kleinberg, my long-time business mentor who turned out to be an absolutely incredible musician too! Thanks for everything, guys.

A sad mention for Flash whiz Rob Meyer, who died recently, far too young.

And a tip of the hat to some true friends and creative forces: Chuck Berg, Steve Haney, Frank Ruotolo, Judy Dang, Jim Hollenbeck, Austin Markus, Donna Casey, Paul Markun, Debbie Torgan, Raphael Olivas, and Russ Volkmann.

I am fortunate to know everyone mentioned here.
